The Event
In 2022, Cardiff University held three days of celebrations in the Principality Stadium for the graduating year groups of 2020, 2021 and 2022. Providing those graduating and their loved ones the chance to celebrate all those that graduated during the pandemic.
This resulted in three days of events for 35,000 graduands, 3000 staff and over 70,000 family members and guests attending.
Our Role...
Production 78 designed and built a graduand management and online portal to organise catering requirements, graduand and guest ticketing for the stadium and fringe events, robing arrangements and ordering, photography and all the logistics required for everyone to attend their respective events.
In the stadium Production 78 was the principal contractor for the delivery of the ceremonies, including stage build, branding design and printing, management of pitch seating for graduands, stage management, sound and lighting, talent support, site and traffic management, ushers, Live event camera and LED screen provision, and project support to the university team throughout the year.
Production 78 provided a full event management and production service to our 2022 graduation ceremonies at Principality Stadium over three live-event days in July 2022. Cardiff University committed to providing a fitting graduation celebration for all students from the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 who were unable to attend their in-person graduation ceremonies due to restrictions in place at the time.
From inception through to delivery of the event, Production 78 provided a highly professional, well-managed, responsive, and collaborative service by an exceptional team of committed, friendly and supportive people. Their support and advice proved invaluable throughout the project, their suggestions, and solutions through each stage of the project, ensured that our events ran to plan and were a resounding success. The team met and resolved every challenge and ensured our events ran to time.
Their stage management team ensured our presenters were well-briefed through technical and dress rehearsals in the run-up to the live event days and were made to feel at ease presenting in such a large auditorium. They successfully managed the ticketing and seating of our graduates, their friends and family in the Stadium, through the creation of a graduation portal and well-considered seating plan using the pitch area.
Their ability to oversee the whole event as a collaboration between many suppliers was invaluable to the project. We very much look forward to working with Production 78 on future projects.
